What are uPVC inline sliding patio doors?

uPVC inline sliding patio doors are glazed doors that glide along a bottom track, so nothing swings into the room. They suit ground-floor flats and terraced houses with a short garden.

01

No swing space

The leaf slides sideways, so the floor in front of the glass stays free for sofas, tables and radiators.

02

Anti-lift security

Anti-lift blocks at the frame head and a hook lock stop burglars prising the leaf out of its track.

03

Colours and finishes

White as standard, or woodgrain foils and satin-textured matt Anthracite Grey or Agate Grey, confirmed for your configuration at survey.

The questions that matter.

Why choose an inline sliding patio door over French doors?
Because nothing swings, so furniture can stand against the glass, which matters in a flat or terrace with a narrow patio. French doors clear the whole opening, while a two-panel slider opens about half. We check how you use the garden first.
How do I keep the track running smoothly?
Twice a year, vacuum the bottom track, wipe it and apply dry PTFE or hard wax, never WD-40, which binds grit into a paste. Neglected tracks seize the rollers. Stainless steel tandem rollers, 32 or 38 mm, on a steel-capped track last longest.
Can a sliding patio door be lifted out of its frame?
On older or poorly specified doors, yes: a crowbar under the bottom edge lifts it out, a far more common way in than breaking glass. Anti-lift blocks at the frame head and a hook lock with up to 6 points stop that. Ask for both.
Is a uPVC sliding door a good choice beside a busy road?
Yes. A dense uPVC frame takes the edge off traffic noise better than hollow aluminium chambers, and it does not corrode, so salt air is no problem. For the slimmest frame and most glass, aluminium slim sliding is better.
