Aluminium-framed and glass-to-glass roof lanterns, made to measure and fitted by our own team across London.

01Glass roofs

What is a roof lantern?

A roof lantern is a raised glass roof light on a kerb above a flat roof, letting daylight through the top and sloping sides. It brightens flat-roofed extensions and deep plans that side windows cannot reach.

01

Aluminium-framed

Glass panes sit between aluminium glazing bars that carry the structure, giving a defined, traditional outline.

02

Glass-to-glass

Panes meet edge to edge with no aluminium bar between them, so frame lines do not cut up the sky.

03

Made to measure

Made to the outside size of its kerb, so we measure on site before manufacture, not from drawings alone.

03Technical specification

Every option is confirmed at survey, against your opening and your build stage.

04Asked before every survey

The questions that matter.

Do I need planning permission for a roof lantern?
Often not separately: a lantern appears on the drawings of an extension or flat roof approved or under permitted development. Height can count towards extension limits. Flats, conservation areas and listed buildings are stricter; ask your architect or council. Building Regulations cover glass and insulation.
Roof lantern or flat skylight: which do I need?
A lantern for a kitchen or living extension you want to feel taller, a flat skylight for a hallway, landing or smaller room. A skylight sits low and lights straight down; a lantern rises above the roof, adding ceiling height and light through sloping sides.
Will a roof lantern make the room too hot in summer?
It can, with the wrong glass. A roof takes sun all day, so the glass matters more than the frame: solar control coatings cut heat gain, low-emissivity coatings hold winter warmth. Tell us which way the roof faces and check the glass on your quote.
What does a roof lantern need to sit on?
A kerb, also called an upstand, built to the architect's drawings: square, level and strong enough to carry the lantern. Most leaks start where the lantern meets the roof covering, not in the glass, so one team should supply and fit it.
What affects the price of a roof lantern?
Size, the type of build, the glass specification, the colour and the roof structure beneath it all feed in. We price each lantern after measuring on site, so the figure you receive is for your own roof.
